The gift of Joy
“We are an Easter people, and Alleluia is our song.”
The truest sign of a man or woman who has drawn close to Christ is their Joy. Every Saint, not one excluded, had a deep Joy abiding in their hearts.
In meeting Christ, and having a relationship with Him, this is the only true response; to hold Him in our hearts and let Him radiate the love of the Trinity there.
If we as Christians want to bring others to the Faith, to help them turn away from waters that will never satisfy, if we want to save souls, including our own, the only thing we can do is become a Saint, and so to be full of Joy.
“You will attract more flies with a spoonful of honey than a barrel of vinegar.”
It is true that we need to be rebuked, and to be corrected. But God gives us correction and rebuking only at certain times, and only in the ways that will truly help us, and even this will pass away when we come to heaven and are perfected; but Joy will never pass. Our Father rebukes sparingly, but He will never stop telling us that He loves us. And that should fill us with a glowing Peace.
“No one lights a candle and place it under a bushel basket.”
People aren’t happy, they are lost and confused and don’t really love themselves at all; we know this because we all experience it too. But the love of God brings light, and it brings Joy. Share that light, let it shine forth, and others will come to Him as well. Only in as far as we let God make us holy and joyful, will we aid in the saving of souls.
God Bless you.
