If Love...
I know of love that won’t weary or tire,
that wipes away the tears of the crier;
with Love at the door how could I deny her?
If love is not real, then what do I desire?
-
They say my hopes are by fools inspired,
that all loves pass and perish in fire,
and all will be lost in the muck and the mire.
But if love doesn’t last, what do I desire?
-
They laugh; ‘love is naught but...

"Here's to everyone getting back safely": The most...
In 2009, I spent the fall semester of my sophomore year studying abroad in Florence, Italy. Benedictine College has a campus twenty minutes outside of Florence in a town called Settignano. About thirty of us lived there together with our professor and his family, taking classes four days a week, with the other three days available for travel. After a wonderful semester, our last week of...

'A Song from My Youth'
This is a short journal I did last year on a day of recollection. It is unaltered. It’s just a capture of how I was feeling that day. I like to look back on it when I am in times of darkness. It was a windy day.
God plays with me in the wind; moving me, driving me, with hands carrying memories from before my birth
The hands that dance with the trees, and make waves in the oceans of grass,...

The gift of Joy
“We are an Easter people, and Alleluia is our song.”
The truest sign of a man or woman who has drawn close to Christ is their Joy. Every Saint, not one excluded, had a deep Joy abiding in their hearts.
In meeting Christ, and having a relationship with Him, this is the only true response; to hold Him in our hearts and let Him radiate the love of the Trinity there.
If we as Christians...

The Nerdy Poet: Welcome Home →
thenerdypoet:
Put your fear away my boy
Rest your mind a while son
The vacancy you see around
Is aftermath of battles won
You fought with a valiant heart
One mightier than theirs
Work you thought was plundered
Will be passed on to your heirs
Loss has no say in your journey boy
Defeat knows…

Closet Monsters.
When I was little, I was scared of the dark. Super Scared. I remember laying in my bed, moving my feet back and forth really fast, absolutely sure that I was just barely dodging the bed monster who was trying to bit my feet off; this of course is an unstoppable cycle, because every time you move your feet and don’t get bit, it is just proof that moving your feet may have saved your...

Zombie Dreams!
After years of sharing my dreams with other people, I’m pretty sure that I have some of the weirdest ones around… I’ll try to pull out a few nuggets to post here. This first one I call “MY ZOMBIE HIGHSCHOOL!”
My favorite thing about dreams, besides being in them, is trying to figure out afterwards what the different points of it were influenced by. Like, if...

Blessed John Paul the Great
Selfishness makes us deaf and dumb; love opens our eyes and hearts, enabling us to make an original and irreplaceable contribution that—together with the thousands of deeds of so many brothers and sisters, often distant and unknown—converges to form the mosaic of charity that can change the tide of history.

Commenting
I’m going to experiment with adding commenting possibilities to my blog. The way to comment is to go to the post’s individual page, because the comment box won’t appear on the main list. I hope it works…
laurenelainetherese asked: ok. ok. so you are totally my new favorite blog. You are going to make for such an epic priest. seriously. kudos to all you do! AGAPE :)

A poem for hipsters
Dark, thick-rimmed glasses, how I desire you
On my face, on my heart, not just on my mind.
A lens too, two in fact, to see the world;
And a bridge on my nose, a bridge to self-discovery.

Hiding in the Bathroom, Fourth Floor, St. Maur...
I expect that most people are at least a little bit worried about the way that other people see them. Honestly, when I see a guy that doesn’t care what other think, I wish that I could give him an award for being so independent, a big, shiny award, so that everyone would know that he doesn’t care what they think, as if to say ‘Hey you, you...

Room to Move
As I waste away those stalwart hours
my thoughts ascend to ivory towers;
to flowers, to powers, fall showers on panes
again, again the patter of rain;
Eyes drift, I slide, my mind starts to glide
with unspoken speeches and unsided sides;
the tide, seek and hide, riding through cities;
pity, pity, and peppermint tea.
The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to...

Any advice on recording my album?
So, recording is a lot more challenging than I thought… which of course sounds like someone saying that performing heart surgery was a lot tougher than the pamphlet made it seem. Of course it’s tough.
I think I just need motivating. It is just so hard to get everything perfect. Fancy that, perfection being hard… duh. So, soon… in the next four months, I’ll have an...

Why!?
My favorite restaurant in the world is a Thai food place in Maryville, MO called Simply Siam. When I am at school, I go to eat there once or twice a week on average, and it’s a 30 minute drive away… so I obviously really love it..
My dad is a complete masochistic when to comes to food, and loves to order things that aren’t on the menu, but he knows to exist, one time getting the...

Bee Stand
When my father was young, his sister got the idea that they should start a business too make some money. While most kids started lemonade stands or washed cars, all they had was what lie around the house, and a lot of time. It being the beginning of summer, my aunt came up with the business model for their new enterprise; Bee Stands.
After catching several bees in jars...
